Peer Review and Feedback
What i have learned from Peer Reviewing:
A lot of people failed to even complete the assignment that was given. There were persons whom didn’t include any conclusions or discussions and some failed to even do research. The writing caliber of students varied widely. Some were able to write effectively to get their points across and some were still writing at a grade school level. It was a general consensus in my mind that a lot of people just threw whatever they had together, not really giving it their all. The papers were lacking enthusiasm and it was hard to find any value in what the research was trying to get across. All this goes for the 15 page academic journal style papers. As far as the creative stories that i read, the were fantastic. The quality of the writing was very superior and they were able to draw in a lot of concepts from their research to fit into the story.
My Own Paper:
I was a bit upset, well very angry that people didn’t take the time to really review my paper. I realize that it was a creative story, but as far as the Introduction, Lit Review, Methods and Conclusions, they failed to even point to grammatical mistakes that were present. I was satisfied when a peer that had also done a creative story reviewed my paper because she analyzed it very thoroughly. She pointed out some grammatical errors and introduced some advice for better structuring my sentences (there were a few run-on sentences as well as poorly worded sentences). Not only did she correct the research part of my paper, but she also read the story a few times and pointed out some errors in sentences as well. i greatly appreciated her thoroughness. With this feedback, i made the necessary changes that really helped my paper.
